On 14^th December 2009, Seagate Technology had announced the Momentus Thin laptop hard drive, which is the world’s thinnest 2.5-inch hard disk drive that created for slim computing designs. It is best fit for most of the high-end netbooks; backup devices; slim consumer electronic devices; ultra-portable laptops; entry-level and mainstream laptops PCs.

Momentus Thin is about 7mm in height, which is 25 percent thin than traditional 9.5mm 2.5-inch laptop hard drive. It is great space saving, easy to carry from place to place and also less expensive.

The Momentus Thin drive features two capacity points, which are 160GB and 250GB with a 5400RPM spin speed, an 8MB on-board cache and a Serial ATA 3GB per second interface. The drive has the self-encryption, FIPS 140-2 certification and free-fall sensors as the current Seagate Momentus drives had.
