  Happy Easter Day 2009

Sunday, April 12th, 2009 | In LimCorp Dot Net |

Today is the Easter Day 2009, I wish all my oversea friends; previous university class-mates and house mates have a great holiday and wonderful Easter Day 2009.

I remember when the time I was studying at AUS, Easter day will be all about shopping, traveling around the city with my house mates and involve a big meal at the dinner time. Because the next day (Monday) of the Easter day will be the university holiday too, so I could spend more time on the bed without rushing to the lesson at the classroom.

Happy Easter 2009
According to the wikipedia, Easter is a move-able feast, means it is not the festival that fixed in the calendar, whereas Easter falls at some point between late March and late April each year following the cycle of the Moon. Normally Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox, where is fixed as 21th March. So the Easter never falls into the day before 22th March or later than 25th April. Cultural elements such as the Easter bunny and Easter egg have become part of the holiday’s modern celebrations. Easter Day is the big day for the Christian.

Although Malaysia is not having the Easter holiday and this festival celebration, I hope everyone have a good Easter day 2009.

  Chap Goh Meh @ Fireworks

Monday, February 9th, 2009 | In LimCorp Dot Net |

Today is Chap Goh Meh, the last day of Chinese new year celebration. Chap Goh Meh simply means “the 15th night of Chinese new year”. It is not doubt the most popular and colorful moment would be in the Chap Goh Meh. Here I wish everyone has a great and Happy Chap Goh Meh night.

In most countries, Chap Goh Mei is celebrated with lots of fireworks, firecrackers and we can see many home decorated with red lanterns and bright lights to mark this end of an auspicious occasion. In some parts of town or city area, we might able to witness the cultural performances, lantern displays, lion dance and so on. Chap Goh Mei also known as the Chinese valentine’s day that celebrated by most of the Chinese couples. According to the story, Chap Goh Meh is a night of courtship and on this night many single ladies would make their way to the temples, best dressed with hope to find prospective suitors.

Besides these, One of the traditional fun activity that take place on this auspicious night is throwing the oranges into the sea or river by those single girls, it is believed that by throwing tangerines into the sea, these young girls would find themselves a good husband. For many years, the activity of throwing tangerines into the sea also signifies that these young girls are available for marriage. From the book, it also recorded if someone who see the floating tangerine in the water and pick it up that generally means that the single girl who threw it would be able to find a good spouse.

Below are some fireworks photos and videos that played during the Chinese new year of 2008 and 2009. Even though playing firecrackers are not allowed by the Government of Malaysia, many people still playing it during the whole Chinese new year.
