Microsoft unveils Lumia 640 XL smartphone

Microsoft has unveiled the new Lumia 640 XL, which is a 5.7-inch device that runs Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Denim that will be fully upgrade-able to Windows 10 when in becomes available. Lumia 640 XL comes with a 5.7-inch HD IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixel, Gorilla Glass 3 coating and Glance screen support.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The device features 8 GB of internal storage and it can be expanded to a maximum of 128 GB by the microSD support. There is 1 GB of RAM makes the device decently fast and should also be enough to run Windows 10 for phones well.

The Lumia 640 XL has rear 13-megapixel unit with auto-focus, a Flash LED, support for 1080p video at 30 fps. The front camera is a 5-megapixel unit with wide angle for selfies and video calls also capable of shooting video at 1080p.

The Lumia 640 XL will be shipped with a 3000 mAh removable battery that can support up to 1 or 2 days of autonomy per charge. The smartphone will go on sale next month with pricing to begin at Euros 189 or about USD 215 for the 3G version and Euros 219 or USD 245 for the LTE flavor.
