MasterCard introduces new Display Card technology

MasterCard Worldwide has recently announced it has collaborating with Standard Chartered Bank Singapore to introduce the next generation and also the Singapore’s first interactive payment card with MasterCard’ Display Card technology.

The MasterCard Display Card that manufactured by NagraID Security will look like normal credit card, debit card or ATM card but it features an embedded LCD display screen as well as touch-sensitive buttons that allow cardholder to generate a One Time Password (OTP) as the authentication security for the transactions.

Due to the increasing in online transactions and mobile initiated remote payments, consumers are naturally demanding increased security to protect their assets and money. So MasterCard Display Card technology serves to fit the need while empowering consumers to do much more with their payment cards.

MasterCard Display Cards are slowly deployed in increasing numbers of banks all around the World and Standard Chartered Bank is launching the largest deployment of Display Card to date. In the near future, this card could incorporate additional functionalities such as display real time information of credit balance, loyalty or reward points, recent transactions as well as other interactive information.

    This I very interesting concept allowing someone to telesign in a transaction or payment with the OTP. I’m hoping that more companies start to offer this awesome functionality.
