Lockitron unveils new remote, wireless door lock

Lockitron has recently unveiled its new, second-generation wireless door lock that allows users to remotely unlock the doors via their smartphone. This new Lockitron door lock can easily be retrofitted to most deadlocks and for the users with iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 can use the Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity to automatically unlock the door.

The Lockitron comes with built-in Wi-Fi that allows users to control the lock remotely and for the non-smartphones users can use text commands to control the device. Users can unlock the doors remotely for their friends while they away for holiday or at office and users will receive a notification when the door is unlocked.

Users can control their Lockitron through incredibly simple API endpoints or set program to it through its Arduino-compatible ATMega microprocessor for better interaction. This smart gadget supports keyless entry to the house or rooms, it has intelligent power management and the batteries can last for up to one year. When the batteries are running low, users will receive a notification too.

Lockitron is now available for pre-order for $149 including the shipping fee to the United States. Lockitron has mentioned it needs to receive 1,000 orders before it proceeds for production and expected to ship in March 2013.
