I-O Data introduces new Blu-ray writer

I-O Data, the Japanese computer peripheral manufacturer, has recently introduced its new BRP-U6DM2 external and portable Blu-ray writer. It measures 136 X 154 X 20mm and about 630 grams in weight.

It is using the USB 2.0 connectivity interface to link between the Optical Disk Drive (ODD) and a PC. The built-in cable can be tucked inside a cut-out at the back of the drive.

It can write content to DVDs, CDs and Blu-ray disks at various speeds. It offers 6X the writing speeds for BD-R (SL/ DL); 4X for BDXL; 2X for BD-RE; 8X for DVD-R/ DVD+R/ DVD-RW; 6X for DVD-R DL/ DVD+R DL/ DVD-RW DL; 5X for DVD-RAM; 24X for CD-R; and 16X for CD-RW media.

I-O-Data BRP-U6DM2 will be started to ship in this middle of December 2012 for $178. It comes with one-year warranty.
