Google launches Google Maps 6.0 with indoor mapping

Google has launched its new Google Maps 6.0 for Android devices that allows users to view the indoor venue maps such as malls, retails stores and airports from their mobile. Currently, Google Maps 6.0 service with indoor mapping is only supported in some places in the United States and Japan.

With the Google Maps 6.0 installed on the mobile, user can view their current position inside a building and it is possible for them to view the overall blueprint of the building. These include 17 United States airports, as well as the shopping malls such as Bloomingdale’s, Ikea and so on.


Google Maps 6.0 app has new drop down menu at the top toolbar, which allows users to access to some of the common features such as Map, Places, Navigation, Latitude, Location History and My Places. Users can instantly check for store labels, bathrooms, ATMs, airport gates and popular shops inside the building.

Google Maps 6.0 is also compatible with those devices that running on Google Android 2.1 or higher.
