GameStop, an American video game and entertainment software retailer, has recently announced the company will involve in developing their own gaming tablet and planned to release in late 2011.

This would be a challenge for the GameStop to compete with their top competitor Valve Software’s Stream distribution service, which is now control over 70 percent of the market share.

During the discussion with CNBC News, GameStop president Tony Bartel had stated “If we can work with our partners and the OEMs and they come up with a great tablet that is enabled with a great gaming experience and coupled with a bluetooth controller, then there’s no need to go out and develop our own. But if we can’t find one that’s great for gaming, then we will create our own.”

GameStop has recently agreed to acquire Impulse, a digital distribution service and Spawn Labs, which is a game streaming service portal as part of the plan to expand their market in the digital gaming world.

Once the acquisition is completed in these few months, GameStop will be able to offer their customers access to a library with more the 1,100 games through Impulse’s digital service.

Let’s wait for the good news from GameStop for its upcoming gaming tablet.
