Cray XK6 combines Cray’s Gemini interconnect, AMD Opteron 6200 Series processors and Nvidia Tesla 20-Series GPUs. It is also upgradeable to more than 50 petaflops of compute power and Cray XK6 is specially designed for multi-purpose usage and gives users the option to run applications with scalar or accelerator components.

Cray XK6 capable of scaling to 500,000 scalar processors and 50 petaflops of hybrid peak performance and all the features have been engineered to meet the real-world demands. It has Hardware Supervisory System (HSS) with independent 100MB per second management fabric between all system blades and cabinet-level controllers. It provides full ECC protection for all packet traffic in the Gemini network.

More specifications for Cray XK6 Supercomputer,
1. 48 switch ports per Gemini chip.
2. Supports 3-D torus interconnect.
3. 1,536 processor cores per system cabinet.
4. Nvidia Tesla X2090 GPU, up to 96 per cabinet.
5. Eight channels of DDR3 memory per compute node.
6. One Gemini routing and communications ASIC per two compute nodes.
7. 16-core 64-bit AMD Opteron 6200 Series processors, up to 96 per cabinet.
8. Allows 16GB or 32GB ECC DDR3 SDRAM and 6GB GDDR5 per compute node.

Cray XK6 will be available in the second half of 2011. It can be configured in a single cabinet with tens of compute nodes, to a multi-cabinet system with thousands of compute nodes.
