WordPress 3.0 has lighter user interface, includes bunch of new features. It is loaded with a completely new default theme called as Twenty Ten and new APIs for developers to customize background, menu, headers, shortlinks, post types and taxonomies.

Users can now customize their menu from the WordPress Dashboard rather than scripting the code manually from the physical files. Users can also create the menu for their blog as simple as drag and drop.

This version of WordPress merges both WordPress MU (Multi-Users) and WordPress that allows users to create new multi-site functionality from the same installation. It has 1,217 bug fixes and feature enhancements since the WordPress 2.9.2.

It is capable to bulk upgrade 15 plugins at the same time with a single click and new bulk updating of themes with an automatic maintenance mode during the process. Its custom menu management feature makes it easier to create custom menus combining posts, pages, categories, tags and links in theme menus or widgets.

WordPress 3.0 comes with built-in shortlink support and allows users to set the admin username and password during the installation and the contextual help text is accessible under the help tab from every page in the administration section.
