U.S. Cellular, the sixth largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, will launch the LG Optimus U at 13rd December 2010 as their last lineup of Google Android-powered phones in year 2010.

The LG Optimus is powered by Google Android 2.2 operating system and runs a 600MHz processor. It is an ideal phone for first-time Smartphone users who are looking to explore wide range of multimedia entertainment, games and access Android applications on the go.

LG Optimus U comes with a sleek 3.2-inch capacitive touch-screen and a virtual QWERTY keyboard that has build-in Swype technology for users to input text message by sliding a finger over the keyboard in one continuous motion.

U.S. Cellular has installed the Your Navigator Deluxe application for voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation. The Smartphone has also pre-loaded with basic Google applications such like Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail programs.

The LG Optimus U comes with a 2GB microSD card and it offers up to 32GB of memory via an external memory card for the users who require more storage capacity for their videos and music files. Besides these, the smartphone features a 3.2 megapixel of camcorder with auto-focus and zoom functions. Additionally, the LG Optimus U supports Wi-Fi with built-in hotspot capabilities.

The LG Optimus U will be free after a $80 mail-in rebate on a two-year contract with U.S. Cellular.
