Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G, the world’s first 3G/4G Android handset

On 23rd March 2010, Sprint and HTC Corporation had announced the new HTC Evo 4G handset. HTC Evo 4G will be the world’s first 3G/ 4G Android 2.1 handset and expected to be available at this coming summer.

HTC Evo 4G is powered by Android 2.1 operating system; running on 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and equipped with one of the industry’s larger touch-screen (4.3-inch, 480 x 800 TFT LCD) displays. It has 1GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM.

The phone is featured with mobile hotspot capability, HTC sense, a 8.0 megapixel camera for high definition video capture and HDMI output. A secondary front-facing camera is about 1.3 megapixel. It can play 720p video through an HDMI output to any HD Television. The new optimized web browser delivers a full browsing experiences for the users and its automatic text re-flowing for easy webpage views.

With the built-in mobile hotspot feature, HTC Evo 4G supports up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 4G Internet connection on the go. For example, users can use the phone as the host to share the Internet connection with laptop, mobile, camera, video player via Wi-Fi connectivity.

HTC Evo 4G delivers a multimedia experience at 4G speeds, which is about 10 times faster than 3G to allow users download pictures, music, videos files directly from the Internet or even watch a streaming video on the go with one of the largest pinch-to-zoom screen display. Users can also easily post a larger size of video files to the social website without any delay and perform a real time Internet chat with a group of people without any interruption.

If the areas are not covered by 4G network, HTC Evo 4G can be switched to use the standard 3G connectivity with limited download and upload speeds.
