Skiff Reader, the largest electronic media reader ever

On 4th January 2010, Skiff LLC and Sprint were officially announced the details of the Skiff Reader, which is the first e-reader specifically designed for newspaper and magazine contents.

This e-reader will definitely enhance the reading experiences for consumers, publishers and advertisers.  It will be presented at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas later this week.

The Skiff Reader comes with thinnest form factors and widest (11.5-inch measured diagonally) electronic paper display in weighs just over one pound. It features the largest and highest-resolution of 1200 x 1600 pixels screen display.

This e-reader is touch screen enabled, it allows users to intuitively navigate around with their documents, works and accessible with the newspapers, magazines, book and some digital contents they purchase through the Skiff Store.

The Skiff Reader uses the world’s first metal-foil e-paper display technology. The stainless steel substrate reduces the e-reader thickness and weight. To improve the quality and durability, this device uses the LG Display instead of the glass-based display and this makes the Skiff to be the only tier one manufacturer producing a non-glass e-paper display.

It also offers multi-platform digital publishing to make it more visual, cross-platform texts and easier for consumers to access contents from multiple publishers across a range of devices.

This e-reader will also support wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi, so users can directly connect to Skiff service and digital store and access a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, books, blogs, and other digital contents from different publishers.

In addition to 3G connectivity, Skiff has signed multiple years agreement with Sprint in order for the users to download books and subscription within the United States.
