Sharp introduces glasses-free 3D LCD screen display

Sharp had recently presented the company new developed 3D LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) touch-screen that does not require 3D glasses while enjoying the video with stereoscopic display.

This will be the industry highest brightness screen display that capable to switch between the 2D and 3D mode. It has 500cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio and it is about 3.4-inch with 480 x 854 pixels resolution for its FWVGA (Full Wide Video Graphics Array) screen display.

Sharp had mentioned the display is using the CG2 evolution of silicon technology and parallax barrier optimization technology to achieve the high brightness and low crosstalk for the great improvement on the quality of the display.

This newly developed 3D LCD touch-screen consists of a layer of material with a series of precision slits that allowing each eye to see a different defined spot to experience the 3D effect. However, the disadvantage of the parallax barrier technology produces the 3D effect only when the viewers positioned in a well defined position.

Users can input the command by simply touch the screen and the device supports vertical and horizontal display in 3D mode. This is a new improvement of LCD display that could apply to certain smartphones in the future.

During the presentation, the crews from Sharp were demo the 3D images can be viewed instantly after the camera shoot.
