Samsung introduces SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D phone

Samsung Electronics has recently announced its SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D phone to the public. This will be the world’s first phone to have a dedicated 3D shortcut key to display 3D content in the screen without the assistance of the 3D glasses.

Samsung SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D phone has a 3.2-inch WQVGA (Wide Quarter Video Graphics Array) AMOLED capacitive touch-screen with 16 millions colors display. It allows users to switch on or off the 3D mode by press the dedicated 3D shortcut key on the phone. It supports for gesture control and accelerometer sensor for the user interface auto-rotation.

The 3D phone comes with a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera and capable to capture photo with maximum resolution up to 2048 x 1536 pixels. It supports 3G with HSPA, DMB-T Television tuner and Bluetooth v2.1. The storage memory can be expanded up to 16GB with the microSD card.

Samsung SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D phone provides some useful functions such like SOS, e-directory, subway maps, email and it has dramatically modified the operating system with its TouchWIZ UI 2.0 interface, which provides widget support on the phone. The TouchWiz 2.0 has three customizable widget screens and download-able widgets, so users can have plenty of options to customize their favorite and fingertip-friendly widgets to be displayed on the home-screens.

TouchWIZ UI 2.0 is the new version of TouchWIZ user interface, it provides direct access to different applications, programs and multi-media features which served as shortcuts to those applications. It has 3D-enabled user interface that able to produce 3D appearance on the screen display.

Samsung SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D phone is expected to be available around Q2 2010 at South Korea.
