Lenovo new ThinkPad X201 and upgraded ThinkPad W701

Lenovo was recently introduced its latest ThinkPad X201. The ThinkPad X201 is the successor of the X200 and it is available in several models (X201; X201s; X201i and X201si, X201t). ThinkPad X201 series are ultra-portable notebooks with 12-inch screen display.

The X201 comes with a full-voltage mobile Intel CPU and it can run up to a dual core 2.66GHz Core i7-620M and optional for 2.4GHz and 2.53GHz Core i5 processor. The slimmer X201s comes with a lower-voltage Core i7-640LM CPU at 2.13GHz. The X201s is slightly lighter and thinner that others X201’s models and it is limited to Core i7 processor.

The ThinkPad X201i and X201si are the most affordable in the X201 series. Both come with Core i3-330M CPU. The ThinkPad X201t is a bit more thickness with highly configurable screen, it includes capacitive touch and pen input functionality.

The X201 series are rely on Intel high definition graphic and the batteries are capable to supply the power up to 12 hours with the nine cell battery option on the X201 and X201s models. All the models in X201 series will be available soon, the X201 will be the most expensive model while the other models will start between the range of $1,199 and $1,599.

On the other hand, Lenovo also updated its highest-end ThinkPad W series (W701 and W701ds). Both models come with Core i7 processor, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M/ 2800M graphics and options for a dual SSD drive configuration. The W701 is the first ThinkPad that equipped with USB 3.0 and support up to 5Gbps of data transfer rate between the device and the external hard drives. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 RAM and upgrade-able up to 16GB. The standard W701 starts at $2,199 for 1.73GHz Core i7-920 Extreme CPU.

The W701ds model comes with 17-inch screen display and it has a color sensor that can automatically calibrates to different lighting environments. Additionally, it has 10-inch slide-out secondary screen display. The price is about $3,799 for Core i7-820 QM Quad Core.
