Recently, Sprint is quietly added its new U301 3G/ 4G modem for its WiMax network. The U301 is the minor update version of its U300, which is the first 4G supported modem release on last year 21st December.

Sprint intends to bring the fastest wireless Internet connection for everyone and enables everyone takes the Internet with them essentially wherever they go by gaining enhanced speed in 4G coverage area or accessible through the 3G network area across the rest of the countries.

The U301 supports for Mac operating system, which allows both Leopard and Snow Leopard users to access to the high-speed mobile Internet service on the go. It is come in a smaller black shell that manufactured by Franklin Wireless. It has a swiveling port that capable to fit into tight sports of any USB port. It comes with the built-in GPS that gives an attached computer geo-location features.

It is the first device that provides access to the Evolution-Data Optimized (EVDO) and WiMax networks while it is also compatible with High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), which is an enhancement to the 3G technology with increased data transfer rates.

The speed can be reached in between 3MB and 6MB per second in the Sprint 4G coverage areas from most major U.S. cities. For the non 4G coverage areas, the Sprint U301 model will able to receive download speed between 600KB and 1.4MB per second on EVDO Revision A-based 3G networks when available.

According to the news, this modem is currently available for the business users.
