SenseAware device helps monitor your products shipment

On 17th November 2009, the world’s leading logistics services company, FedEx Corporation had announced an innovative device ~ SenseAware, which is the sensor hardware tool to provide enhanced visibility and real time monitoring during the journey of your products shipment. It will be available in the spring of 2010 in U.S market.

SenseAware combines a GPS sensor device and a web-based collaboration platform, which allows customers to track the condition of their products shipping from one location to another through the delivery process via the Internet in real time. This helps to provide increased access to information between business partners and customers to assist in the management of supply chain interact for the products lost, broken or even damaged during the delivery process.

It can be easily adopted and does not require a costly software installation, infrastructure and large managed service commitments. It also enables for single shipments or large quantity of shipments.

SenseAware is a easy to use sensor information sharing platform, and it is a multi-modal solution that helps customers who wants to have a real-time visibility and insight into their shipments. This device is permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration to be used during the flight on FedEx aircraft and will allow customers to monitor the whole process during the ground transportation.

This device can be used to check the temperature, the exact location where the products are located using GPS, detect whether a shipment has been opened via its light exposure sensor and detect whether a shipment has been dropped on the ground via it built-in accelerometer.
