Earth Hour @ KLCC

Sunday, March 29th, 2009 | In News & The Events |

Yesterday night, KLCC Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin buildings in the world had turned off its non-essential lights including decorative facade lighting for one hour to support the 60 Earth Hour event. This was the first time that I saw the Twin Towers switched off 90% of its light for one hour.

Even though the light was switched off, the shops at Suria KLCC were opened as usual, only some shops and retailers were switched off their display light and signs but internal mall lights were maintained for safety reason.

According to the news, during the official Earth Hour at Suria KLCC, the first 100 shoppers that purchase any thing in any amount would be rewarded with a cup of freshly brewed coffee courtesy of Suria KLCC. Additionally, 15 lucky shopper who spend a minimum of RM1,000 would be rewarded with two tickets to the upcoming and much anticipated Malaysia Formula 1 Grand Prix. To gather their rewards, shoppers need to present the shopping receipt to the concierge desk.

During the Earth Hour, I was taking photos and video clip beside the KLCC Petronas Twin Towers. I was arrived there around 8pm, and the place being crowded and people were shouting and count down for the Earth Hour event.

Earth Hour is really a good concept on how we could spend at least a few minutes of our time in remembering mother Eearth. people should be more aware and more caring of our environment now that we have Global Warming and Climate Change.
